The football team dropped their league opener against Ponderosa 42-0 this past Saturday. The lancers take on the second best team in the league this Thursday as they take on the Colts of Pueblo South. Pueblo South defeated Grand Junction High School 54-33, moving their overall record to 4-2 and a 1-0 league record. The lancers look to get back on track and get back to .500 with a steady running attack and stout defense. It should be hard fought game won in the trenches as both teams are run focused offenses and rarely throw the ball.

Field Hockey:

The Lancers lost their last game to Cheyenne Mountain but look to rebound Monday with a game against Golden who is 3-8-1 on the year. Liberty will be hosting the Demons at 5. Both teams are in the bottom quarter of the League as both have yet to put all the pieces together this year. As the season begins to wrap up, the last few games will be a great measuring stick for where the team stands moving into next year. With all of the Lancers opponents ranking in the bottom half of the League, Liberty is in a position to rack up a couple of wins to improve on their 2-8 record.

Men’s Soccer:

Coming off of  heartbreaking 3-2 loss to rival Rampart, the boys soccer team looks to rebound with their lone game this week on Thursday as they travel to play Fountain-Fort Carson. The Trojans are 0-3 in league play, losing their last game 4-1 to Ramaprt. If the Lancers want to finish the season with a winning league record they must win their last three games. There is a very good chance to accomplish just that, and winning against the worst team in the League is the first step.

The softball team finished their season off strong with winning eight straight games within the league. The lancers finished the season with a 13-6 record overall, and a 11-1 record in league with a lone loss against Fountain Fort Carson. The team is waiting to find out who they will be playing in regionals for the state playoffs. Allie Helton ranks in first in five categories(B.A, Slug, Runs, OBP, and SB.) in the league and top 5 in all categories. Jordan Cordrey ranks first in league with strike outs and  wins. If the Lancers look to continue their win streak and make a run in the playoffs, Allie and Jordan will have to keep up their league leading success.

Last week’s 3-2 win over Doherty moved their league record to 1-1 and keeps them in a better spot to begin league play. The Lancers have one game this week, as they host Palmer on Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. Palmer is at the bottom of the League with a 0-2 league record with 3-0 losses to Coronado and Rampart. The Lancers look to keep moving up in the League and a lesser opponent of Palmer provides just that opportunity.
