After last years game between the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Clemson Tigers in last years College Football Playoff championship game by a score of 45-40, there were a lot of expectations for this years rematch to live up to last years. The Tigers versus Tide the sequel took place on Monday night and it did not disappoint. Clemson took down the champs of college football behind the performance of their star quarterback Deshaun Watson. He followed up last years 405 yards passing and 4 touchdown performance in last years championship game with a 420 yards passing, 43 yards rushing and 4 total touchdowns in this years game. It looked like the Tide were going to roll to their second straight championship when Jalen Hurts hooked up with O.J. Howard for a 68 yard touchdown pass to take a 24-14 lead entering into the fourth quarter. Clemson came storming back with a Mike Williams 4yd catch from Deshaun Watson and a One yard touchdown run by Wayne Gallman to give Clemson a 28-24 lead with 4:38 left in the fourth. Jalen Hurts wouldn’t go down without a fight, as he scrambled away from the defense and took it himself running for a 30 yard touchdown run to put the Crimson Tide back up by 3 points with just 2:07 left in the game. Deshaun Watson and the Clemson offense had one final crucial drive to decide the second annual college football playoff semi-final. Pass interference that occurred in the end zone setting up Clemson on the Alabama one yard line with seven seconds remaining. Watson rolled out to his right and fired a bullet to Hunter Renfrow for a touchdown with one second remaining which eventually ran out and the Clemson won 35-31!
