As many people have seen on social media websites, 2016 ended with a bang. Mariah Carey, well-known pop artist, was scheduled to perform in New York City before the Time Square Ball Drop at midnight. Carey was to sing her songs Emotions and We Belong Together. Both of these ended up being disasters as Carey barely sang along, letting the backtracks play. On the website BravoTv, there is an inside look: “Mariah’s manager, Stella Bulochnikov, then gave an in-depth interview with Entertainment Weekly on Monday explaining what the singer’s team believed happened during the performance. She said that Mariah did show up to rehearsal and did a sound check as a dancer stood in for her for the musical number. The singer said “the sound was coming in choppy,” which continued when she did an interview with Ryan Seacrest at about 10:35 p.m. in Times Square.” As many people could see, Mariah dropped her mic to her side and followed the choreography instead of singing along, showing the audience and viewers how it looked as if she was supposed to lip-sync.
