There are many great places to go hiking in Colorado. Some of those places you’ve probably heard of, including Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods, though some are less popular. My personal favorite place to hike is Garden of the Gods, simply because of the colorful and captivating scenery.

The number one place to go hiking in Colorado is Pikes Peak. This is the most well-know fourteener in Colorado, especially in Colorado Springs. It measures to 14,110 feet, and takes approximately 8 hours to hike to the summit. Pikes Peak is located in downtown Colorado Springs, and is a common attraction for both locals and tourists.  Many people like to hike there because it proves a challenge and allows people to add to their list of climbed fourteeners.

Another popular area to hike in Colorado is Garden of the Gods.  This park was established in 1909, with over 15 miles worth of trails in the area. Garden of the Gods is unique because it is completely free to the public and owned by a citizen who wants people to be able to enjoy the area. What was first known as the Red Corral Rock has over 1,367 acres of land, which means there’s plenty of new places to explore. The Manitou incline is a popular hike that aims itself towards expert hikers. The remains of this former railway were created in 1907 when Dr. Newton M. Brumback ordered people to construct it.

Another trail to go hiking on in Colorado is the Silver Dollar Lake Trail. Although this is a short trail, there are many opportunities and activities such as rock climbing, snow-shoeing, fishing, cross-country, and skiing along the way. It’s even dog friendly, so you can bring your pet for exercise.

Finally, one more amazing place to go hiking in Colorado is the Great Sand Dunes. This national monument has about 19,000 acres of land, and is home to some of the tallest sand dunes in North America, standing at 750 feet. The scenery is unbelieveable.

As teenagers, we need to get exercise so when we are older we can support ourselves. It’s important for you to explore the beautiful state we live in so make sure to take a moment to appreciate it!

Although there are many great places to go hiking in Colorado, Pikes Peak, The Great Sand Dunes, Garden of The Gods, and the Silver Dollar Lake Trail are some of the best.
