2018 Grammy Awards

The 2018 Grammy Nominations are here. It’s a very exciting year for many new artists such as SZA and DJ Kahlid. Each artist has 6 nominations, and SZA is the most dominated woman this year.

Jay-Z takes the lead with a whopping total of 8 nominations, including Reckoned of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Song of the Year— all huge categories for the award ceremony. Kendrick Lamar took second place with 7 nominations in his album DAMN, which was released in April of 2017. Next comes Bruno Mars, with 6 nominations for his highly anticipated album.

The Record of the Year nominations go to Childish Cambino, for Redbone, Despacito by Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee, ft. Justin Bieber. Next comes the Story of O.J. by Jay-Z, Humble by Kendrick Lamar, and finally 24k Magic by Bruno mars.

Next, Album of the Year goes to Awaken My Love by Childish Cambino, 4:44 by Jay-Z, DAMN by Kendrick Lamar, Melodrama by Lorde, and once again, 24k Magic by Bruno Mars.

Song of the Year nominations went to Despacito by Justin Bieber, 4:44 by Jay-Z, Issues by Julia Michales, 1-800-273-8255 by Log and Alesia Cara, and finally, That’s What I Like by Bruno Mars.

The Best New Artist Award is for artists with noticeable breakthroughs into the public whom have notably impacted the musical landscape. The nominations goes to Alessia Cara, DJ Kahlid, Lil Uzi Vert, Julia Michales, and SZA.

This will be the 60th Grammy Award Show, held by The Recording Academy. The CBS Network broadcasts the live show from the Madison Square Garden in NY City. It’s the first ceremony since 2003 to be held outside of Los Angeles. It was moved to January to avoid competing for air-time with the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, as it was in 2010 and in 2014.
