The Scabs on My Knee

Kai Mann's Knee

The scabs on my knee reminded me

Of all the times I have been left alone

Sitting by myself on the pavement

Looking down at my cut up knees

All the times I would sit outside

Waiting for someone to come out

Waiting for someone to get me

To pick me up and take me in

Even the times someone came for me

I wouldn’t stand up, I would sit

I wouldn’t get up to fix myself

I would just cry

Reminds me of people today

They just sit there and won’t stand

They won’t make an effort

People sit and don’t come back up

And just like the scabs on my knees

Without care and protection

They will just turn to scars

Scars that will never go away
