On January 5th, our very own Liberty Lancers faced off against the Coronado Cougars. Before this game, the Lancers record was set at 3-4, and facing a loss against the Rampart Rams the game before. This year, there are 22 players, 6 coaches, and 2 managers; all a part of the hockey team.

During the game, Liberty started off strong scoring the first goal of the game. This goal was scored by Greg Schendzielos, junior (number 14). The end of the first period was a tie, at 1-1. The second period brought more excitement to the team as Greg Schendzielos, junior (number 14) scored once again. It was in this period that freshman, Jeremy Garcia (number 5) scored his first varsity goal. When the buzzer went off signaling the end of the second period, the Lancers were up by one making the score 3-2. Within the third and final period, Liberty scored an additional four goals. Connor McIlhany, senior (number 20) scored two of these goals, coming close to another hat trick this season. Greg Schendzielos however did score a hat trick, with his final goal of the game being in this period. Nearing the end of the game, Coronado pulled their goalie in attempt to win back some points, and Bjorn Roob, senior (number 21) took this opportunity to score an empty netter. The final score for this game was 7-4.
