As prom season approaches, excitement continues to build among Juniors and Seniors preparing for one of the most memorable nights of the school year.

This year’s prom will be held at the DoubleTree, beginning at 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. offering students a formal setting to celebrate with friends, dance, and mark an important milestone in their high school experience. While anticipation is high across the students, opinions on certain aspects of the event, especially the theme are mixed.
Many students are looking forward to the elegance of the event, especially the venue. The DoubleTree is a new look compared to the many other places prom has been hosted at before. Students are already making plans for photos, dinners, and group gatherings leading up to the event, contributing to the overall excitement. For seniors, this prom represents one of their final major events before graduation, while Juniors see it as a long awaited tradition they finally get to be a part of.
However, not every detail has been met with complete enthusiasm. Junior Adaleigh Winterhalter shared her honest perspective on this year’s prom theme, explaining that she feels it may be a bit overcomplicated. “I think it’s a bit much, I feel like it could’ve been more simple.”
She also expresses that she would have preferred “just something pretty,” rather than a theme that might feel overly elaborate. Despite her uncertainty about the theme itself, Winterhalter noted that she has heard generally positive feedback from others. “I don’t really know what it is, but I’ve heard not bad things about the prom theme,” Winterhalter added.
When it comes to the venue, Winterhalter is much more excited. She shared that she feels confident the location will be beneficial to having a good experience. “The venue that we’re having it at, I’m fine with. I think that if they decorate it well at the hotel, then it’ll be nice,” Winterhalter said.
One of her strongest opinions was about the after prom plans. This year’s prom activity is at Urban Air, which Winterhalter believes may not appeal to everyone after several hours of dancing.
“I think after prom is a very horrible decision because no one wants to jump on trampolines until 2 a.m. after dancing for hours,” Winterhalter stated.
Winterhalter also mentions how many students may not go with the theme for their attire. “No, my dress is not matching. I got it without knowing the theme,” she said
While students like Winterhalter offer valuable and honest feedback, their perspectives are part of what makes the event dynamic and memorable for everyone involved. Future venues for Prom are currently undecided, but are guaranteed to leave some students satisfied while others will crave something more.
