The pressure is on, and the boys’ volleyball team is rising to meet it. With an undefeated score of 17-0, high expectations, and a season full of both intense matchups and unforgettable team moments, this group had turned hard work and chemistry into one of the most exciting runs of the year.

Sophomore Christian Phillips described the season as both exciting and rewarding. “I think our season is going really well… we’re having a lot of fun as a team, and we’re currently 17-0,” he said. As the season nears its end, the team is aiming even higher, hoping to finish with a perfect record.
One of the biggest highlights of the season came during a matchup against DCC. “My favorite moment was beating DCC. That was a really big game, and we pulled through,” Phillips said. The victory stood out not just because of the win, but because of the energy and teamwork displayed on the court.
While the team has had some excellent games, some of the most memorable moments have come during practice. Phillips recalled a lighthearted April fools practice where “We all dressed up in pajamas and called our coach ‘mom’ the whole day.” Moments like these help strengthen the team’s bond and keep the atmosphere fun throughout a competitive season. Despite all their successes, the team faced challenges along the way. According to Phillips, learning to work together was one of the biggest hurdles, with him saying, “We all think differently and have different values, so learning how to work together took some effort.” Over time, however, the team grew stronger and more unified.

The coaching staff had also played a major role in shaping the team’s success, with Phillips claiming, “The coaches held us accountable, not just for how we play on the court, but also for who we are off the court.” This emphasis on responsibility helped players grow both as athletes and individuals. The coaches have built a strong foundation, truly showing off the hard work put into the team.
Even with their strong record, the team faced unexpected challenges, including a tough match against Fountain Fort Carson. “We played them last week and lost a set, which we didn’t expect,” Phillips admitted. The experience served as a reminder that every opponent, no matter what, can be competitive.
As the season comes to a close, one word stands out to describe the team’s journey: pressure. “We started the season really strong, so now there’s pressure to keep performing and maintain our record,” Phillips said. Still, he views it positively, adding that “it’s a good kind of pressure.”
With an undefeated record, strong team chemistry, and valuable lessons learned, the boys’ volleyball team has made this season one to remember. As the postseason approaches, the team is focused on finishing what they started and proving that their success is valuable. The pressure to stay undefeated continues to build, but instead of backing down, the players are using it as motivation. The team is ready to push forward and see just how far their season can go.
