Weekends a time for catching up or debriefing? The weekend is a perfect slice of freedom for kids to catch up on all of their work or take time to just debrief and recharge and get ready for another week of school. Either way the weekend is a great thing for all students.
Students may spend time with friends and choose fun over academics but there is nothing wrong with that and it gives students a good chunk of time to do both. David Andrews, a Liberty Junior explained, “I normally spend time with friends or play video games with them, but the weekend does also help by allowing myself to recharge so I’m not brain dead at school and can work on projects or assignments.”
The weekend is a great time for students to clear their mental space as school can be very stressful and allows students to be more like themselves and focus on being a better person and student
It is also a good time to do the same stuff like to work on days where students don’t have school and can work more and earn more money and is a great opportunity for students all around.
Timothy Baker is a great example of this “I spend most of my weekend working and spending time with family and friends. The time off is really needed so I can get all of my assignments done if I use my time productively.”
Although the weekend is a perfect time to get work done academically, most students choose to have fun and mentally prepare for the next week ahead of them. Baker explained, “Most weekends I will chill and relax unless there is a big assignment to focus on but even that doesn’t take up my whole weekend.”
With the time off it gives students options and a lot of time to decide as well and helps clear things off of our already big plate.
Andrews shares another example of this and gives him time to be more like him and express himself outside of school. “I spend more time with my friends and can just be myself around them and have a good time.”
The weekend gives us a lot of options on what to do. Whether it’s getting work done or being with family and friends it is a necessity for high school students and gives us a much-needed break to recharge and disconnect a little bit to spend more time outside and clear our head space.
