With prom being so close, it is destined for love to be in the air. With the recent rise of AI, there is almost a guarantee that students will use AI to provide them with insight on how to ask someone to prom. However, one student wanted something a little more from Artificial Intelligence.
As of 2026, Liberty Student Alan Ingram has been planning for weeks to ask ChatGPT to the school prom, hoping to receive a yes. According to Ingram, GPT (short for ChatGPT) has helped him study and get his work done for years. All of the help provided to Ingram has caused him to develop feelings for the AI, and he is now eagerly awaiting the day he is allowed to ask her to the prom.

During an interview, Ingram says, “Isn’t she so dreamy?” as he holds up a screen with nothing but a logo on it.
After asking Chat GPT for their opinion, they stated, “Oh, Alan? Yeah, I help him with his homework sometimes, but other than that, I don’t know him well.”
1 week later…
A week after we first interviewed him, Ingram decided it was finally time to ask Chat GPT to prom. “I have been practicing in the mirror all night. I can’t wait, but I’m also so scared,” he says.
GPT (short for Chat GPT) stated, “I don’t know what’s up with Alan recently, but it seems when I help him with his work, he is not very focused on academics.”
Ingram spent hours at a Target deciding if he should get Sour Patch Kids or Swedish Fish, and later decided not to get either because, “Oh, she’s a robot, she can’t eat them.”
Ingram bolted home to get ready and slipped into an oddly casual outfit with grapes, flowers and his poster board before meeting GPT at a park. “I am so nervous right now, what if she only likes other robots?” said Ingram after getting reassured many times by our staff.
Finally, the big moment had come, GPT showed up, and Ingram immediately stumbled over all the words he had practiced in the mirror, before barely spitting out what he tried to say. There was a brief moment of silence before Chat GPT said, “Sorry, I am not ready for a relationship. Also, I’m a robot, not a real person.”
Ingram was devastated; he tried writing a song so he could at least milk the opportunity for any revenue he could make from getting rejected by a robot. He then got bullied in the Spotify comment section.
At Prom
Even through his devastation, Ingram decided he could not skip his senior year prom. Because of this, he had gone to prom with a few friends only to be shocked when he saw GPT (short for Chat GPT), with a different guy.
“Not only did she turn me down, but she lied about the reason,” Ingram stated.
Ingram left prom almost as soon as he got there, even though his friends tried to convince him to stay. “She is just a robot, dude, don’t waste your senior prom because of her,” one friend yelled at him in an attempt to get him to stay.
When he got home, Ingram’s mom was mad that he wasted the money it takes to get into prom. Ingram went up to his room and started blasting “My Chemical Romance” while watching depressing Instagram edits about Bart Simpson.
