You’ve heard of the cheese touch, the most terrifying and ongoing version of tag there is. Being the one with it could ruin you socially. Forgetting to cross your fingers around the person who gets it and then getting it yourself… dreadful.
Unfortunately, it’s making a revamp, and it’s coming back scarier and more frightening than ever. DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) state is a time of year many enjoy and look forward to. It prepares kids for their future in the real world, and does so in such a way that makes it fun for all. However, DECA state 2026 was a different story.
DECA state takes place at the Broadmoor every year, and with that, there are a couple of meals that they provide. One of the lunches they had was a chicken pot pie that many people enjoyed. It was no ordinary pot pie, though, as many people got food poisoning from it. People had to leave the Broadmoor early simply because they were too sick to continue. This led to a new version of the cheese touch, where multiple people could get it at once.
This new version of the cheese touch is known as the pot pie plague, and it is not a force to be reckoned with. It’s been spreading faster than a forest fire, and forest fires spread pretty darn quickly.
The aftermath of the pot pie incident was chaotic. Students who had initially enjoyed their savory pot pie were now dealing with issues of nausea, stomach cramps, and other unpleasant symptoms. The pristine corridors of the Broadmoor were now filled with students in a hurry, seeking either the bathroom or medical assistance. The vibrant atmosphere that had been created by the DECA state was now replaced with an air of concern and discomfort.
As news of the pot pie plague spread quickly throughout the conference, paranoia also began to set in. Students were now wary of each other, not knowing who would be next to contract the dreaded pot pie plague. The usually competitive atmosphere that had been created at DECA state was now replaced with a desire not to contract the dreaded pot pie plague.
The organizers of DECA State were in disarray as they sought to contain the epidemic, with the Broadmoor Hotel staff assisting them in tracing the source of the contamination in order to contain it. Nonetheless, the damage was already done, with several students having to withdraw from the competition, their dreams of success having been crushed by the rogue pot pie.
The days and weeks that followed DECA State saw the pot pie plague used as a cautionary tale, a reminder to all that no matter how well-planned an event was, there was always the possibility of something untold happening. As students went back to their various schools, they took with them the memories of their experience, as well as the fear of the dreaded pot pie plague.
